The skin’s natural hyaluronic acid (HA) is like a ground substance that gives us youthful volume and support in the facial contours and hydration for smooth skin texture. As we age, this natural volume and hydration depletes, which makes our skin look dull and wrinkled and lends itself to sagging.
Whilst we tend to believe that gravity is to blame for the sag, it is this support to the skin that is in fact the source. This is why, strategically with rejuvenating the face, volume loss should always be addressed first.
Whilst topical creams can temporarily moisturise the skin, they cannot maintain the deep hydration and volume needed to give us back our youthful contours and healthy glow.
Hyaluronic acid fillers (HA) are naturally occurring, non-animal based, which closely resembles the skin’s own HA. It is an injectable gel, used to soften and correct lines and folds by replenishing the underlying volume loss and boost the skin’s hydration. This restores a smoother, more youthful appearance.
With a 3D understanding of what is happening to the aging face, I am able to re-contour and re-support the facial structures in a natural way, to create an overall youthful effect. Equally I can aesthetically enhance natural features, such as plumping thin lips or enhancing cheekbones or chins.
Our understanding of facial aging has evolved and, with it, the sophistication of filling techniques and the availability of products. From boosting the skin’s overall texture and quality, to replenishing lost volume, there are different fillers for each indication.
The brands I favour are all FDA approved, with robust safety profiles. The skin is numbed with a topical cream before treatment and the fillers contain local anaesthetic for optimum comfort.
HA fillers are exceptionally well received by the body, are not permanent, and may last from three-18 months, depending on the product and the volume used.
Average treatment time (with consultation): 45mins-1hour.
